How to Train Your Dragon

The North American tour of Dreamworks’ How to Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular rolls fire-breathing action, epic adventure and laughs into a captivating and original story that is set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons. “In our film, audiences around the world were transported to the mythical world…and now, we are excited to immerse them in a one-of-a-kind live event,” said Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation.

The state-of-the-art production features 24 dragons, some with wingspans of up to 14 meters, as well as unrivaled production values, projections, flying, stunts, circus performers, fire and pyrotechnics. Included in the world-class mix are Lightwave’s Prism series lasers.

Lightwave’s lasers are used to create a variety of special effects and environments, from underwater seascapes to the fiery dwelling of a dragon’s lair. During the show, they utilize a special cable system to travel to different locations creating effects specifically where needed. The entire system is DMX controlled via the main lighting board.

DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg told The Hollywood Reporter, “For this type of show it’s probably the biggest and most ambitious themed arena show that anybody’s ever done before. I think that this will hopefully set a new standard. This is real 3D — it’s the real thing.”

The North American leg of the tour continues into 2013. The latest dates can be found at dreamworksdragonslive.com
